In Louisiana, numerous families and individuals own RVs and motorhomes that have become part of their adventures and cherished memories. Whether it’s a Class A Fleetwood or a pop-up camper, these vehicles have provided a home on the road, allowing for exploration of our beautiful state. However, as life changes, so do our needs. Many donors find themselves ready to part with beloved RVs that they can no longer use or maintain.
At Bayou Rides Exchange, we welcome your RV or motorhome as a donation, transforming it from a storage burden into a blessing for someone in need. From families seeking affordable housing solutions to adventurers ready to hit the open road, your contribution has the potential to create new journeys. Plus, you'll enjoy the convenience of a straightforward donation process while making a significant impact on the lives of others in Louisiana.

How pickup works
Pickup logistics for RVs and motorhomes require specialized care and coordination. Our team utilizes dedicated RV-transport flatbeds or drive-away services to ensure safe and efficient collection of your vehicle. If your RV is located in a storage lot or RV park, we will work with the facility to arrange pickup, even if you are not on-site. It's essential to consider your RV’s length and height, as most states impose a 13’6” maximum clearance requirement for transport routing. Rest assured, we’ll handle all the details to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience.
What drives donation value
The value of your donated RV or motorhome largely hinges on the condition of its living systems rather than just its drivetrain. Key factors include the state of the roof, slides, plumbing, and AC units. Water damage can significantly devalue your vehicle, so recent maintenance records are invaluable for determining fair market value. Seasonality also plays a role; donations made in spring often fetch higher values at auction. For classic RVs, we recommend obtaining an appraisal from a qualified appraiser, especially if you're looking to claim a deduction.
Documentation you need
- Current title of the vehicle
- Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) for off-road models
- Service and maintenance records
- Appraisal documentation for classic or valuable RVs
Louisiana specifics
When donating an RV or motorhome in Louisiana, it’s important to understand state regulations. The DMV requires a clear title for the vehicle, and if the vehicle is valued over a certain amount, an appraisal may be recommended. Ensure that any outstanding liens are resolved prior to donation. Louisiana typically provides a bill of sale to facilitate the transfer of ownership, further simplifying the donation process.
